Stephen H. Zinner, M.D. - Medical Expert

Stephen H. Zinner, M.D., a board certified specialist in Internal Medicine with a subspecialty in Infectious Diseases, is the Charles S. Davidson Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School and Chair, Department of Medicine, Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He formerly was Professor of Medicine at Brown University School of Medicine in Providence, Rhode Island, and Director of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Brown.

Dr. Zinner’s chief research interests are in antibiotic development (in vitro pharmacodynamic models) and infectious diseases in general (new antimicrobial agents, infections in febrile neutropenic patients, sexually transmitted diseases, etc.). He is a member of the Advisory Board of the International Antimicrobial Therapy Co-operative Group (IATCG) of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC). He has published numerous journal articles and book chapters and currently serves as a reviewer for several journals, including Journal of Infectious Diseases, New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Internal Medicine, Archives of Internal Medicine, Journal of Clinical Investigation, and Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy.

Dr. Zinner is a Fellow of the American College of Epidemiology, the American College of Physicians, and the Infectious Diseases Society of America. He also is a member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation, American Society for Microbiology, International Society for Infectious Diseases, and the Society for Epidemiologic Research.

Dr. Zinner received his undergraduate degree (B.A.) from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia. He completed a Residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Chicago Hospitals in Chicago, Illinois, followed by Research Fellowships in Medicine, and Bacteriology and Immunology at Harvard Medical School and Boston City Hospital, as well as a Clinical Fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the Channing Laboratory and Thorndike Memorial Laboratory, Harvard Medical Service at Boston City Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.
