Gina Penna - Style Expert

Gina Penna spent her childhood in Pescara, Italy, where she dreamed of becoming a hairstylist. As a young girl, she was constantly styling the hair of her friends and family, practicing for her future career.

In her early teens, Gina’s family moved to the United States. After meeting her future husband, Nicholas Penna, at hair school, the two married and, months later, opened up their own salon in Boston’s Hyde Park neighborhood.

Gina and Nicholas celebrated their skills and passion as stylists, working side-by-side for 18 years in their original location. In 1967, they moved the salon to a bigger location around the corner to meet the growing demand for their services. At a time when salons were opening downtown, Nick and Gina built a thriving business in a part of the city that was easily accessible to suburbanites and city dwellers, alike. Gina’s energy, artistry and enthusiasm is a main factor behind the phenomenal success of SalonCapri, and her drive for excellence has inspired deep loyalty from the salon’s skilled stylists, cementing its reputation as one of the Boston area’s most respected salons.

With her appealing personality and master styling skills, Gina has cultivated a large and loyal clientele that includes TV personalities and neighborhood residents alike. For decades, Gina has ensured that SalonCapri serve as an active member of the community, giving back to a number of charitable causes such as The Home for Little Wanderers, Brain Tumor Society, Locks for Love and HairCares, an annual cut-a thon to raise money for HIV-AIDS prevention.

Today, Gina works at both the company’s Hyde Park and Newton locations. She lives in Milton with her husband and enjoys vacationing at the family summer home in Ogunquit, Maine, with her four grandchildren.
