Didi Emmons - Chef, cookbook author, food consultant

Didi is currently the Executive Chef of Haley House Café Bakery, a nonprofit venture she opened for Haley House Inc in September 2005 in Dudley Square, Roxbury. The café serves affordable healthful food, and operates a bakery training program for individuals who are transitioning from drug addiction, incarceration, or homelessness. She is also the director of the Haley House Youth Cooking Program, teaching inner-city at-risk teens how to cook with whole foods. Didi recently authored Entertaining for a Veggie Planet (Houghton Mifflin), winner of a 2004 IACP (International Association of Cooking Professionals) Award. She is also author of the bestselling cookbook Vegetarian Planet, which has sold over 200,000 copies. She has written for the Boston Globe, Cooking Light, Vegetarian Times, and Food Arts Magazine, among other publications. She is co-owner of Veggie Planet, a vegetarian restaurant in Harvard Square, Cambridge. Didi received a degree in foodservice management from New York University and a Grand Diplome from La Varenne Ecole de Cuisine in Paris.
