"The first day of Great in 08, I was so nervous, I wasn't sure what to expect. I knew I was going to have to give my weight....soooo scary! It turned out to be a great experience, the other two participants, Rick and Rachel are just so nice, all the people involved where just great. I know that the people I will be working with from here on out will definitely be looking out for me and how I feel, making sure that this amazing adventure is just that! I am grateful to have this experience and I hope to bring inspiration to other young people."
Healthy Eating - February 29th, 2008
We had a shopping tour of the Shaw's at the Prudential in Boston on Friday, which was very interesting and fun. That Shaw's is a very nice store. We read labels and looked at yummy foods. It is always a really great idea to have lunch before you take a tour of a supermarket! I was excited to learn that I don't have to keep walking by the olive bar. Everything in moderation. The tour was fun spending time with everyone, we are all starting to build friendships that will hopefully go much farther then May. I'm just still uncomfortable in front of that silly camera. I think it will take until May to get used to that.

"Meeting with Jenny on Friday to discuss my diet, was kind of scary. New challenges are always scary to me. So Jenny and I set some goals for areas that I am having the most difficulty. We discussed breakfast and Jenny thought I was eating too many carbs. so to replace my morning cereal with something that has higher fiber and protein. Another goal we set was to curb those evening munchies when sitting in front of the T.V. Jenny suggested that I try chewing gum or rinsing with mouth wash after dinner. There was also too much time between breakfast and lunch gone without eating so Jenny explained that I should make it habit to bring some snacks to school with me to try and make the afternoon sugar crash from happening. Jenny suggested that I bring a cheese stick and an apple. I can leave them both in my car, right now and they'll stay cool until I eat them. These goals all seem easy on paper, but trying to be on top of things every second of the day is difficult. It's hard when your brain is telling you one thing but your stomach is saying something completely different."

Thursday’s workout, was another toughy! Peter really worked us hard. He had us running up and down a VERY! steep hill. It felt really great though, because there was no way 6 months ago I would have been able to do that. It is really an amazing feeling being able to accomplish something so difficult.

Thursday’s workout was another killer, we did more running. We did bicep curls until our arms gave out. I definitely felt those Friday and Saturday. Peter had us running and I thought I was going to drop right there. Before we knew it, though our session was up and we were all feeling great!
Work Out - February 26th, 2008
Tuesdays workout was very hard. Peter was unable to make it to the session so Jenny was out substitute teacher. She kicked our butts. She did not take it easy on us. We must to have ran miles, at least that is what it felt like. It is very exciting however, I can tell the difference in my endurance level even after just a short time. Just a few months ago there was no way I would be able to run the way I am now. I am so proud of my team mates too, they have both been huge inspirations to me. They work their butts off!!! Whoo hoo team!

Boot camp yesterday, had to of been one of the toughest days for me mentally. Just getting to the common took a whole lot of strength. The whole way in I was telling myself how miserable this was going to be, because of the cold and riding home wet and cold was not going to be fun. However, I pushed through found my way to the common, though I was a bit late I gave my all, afterwards I felt GREAT! I was so proud of myself for coming, even after Peter had us run, and abdominal work. I'm sore today but it was definitely worth it, even in 20 degree weather.

"Today was a great day, the other participants and I met with Jenny and Boston Boot Camp Peter. We met on the Boston Common, which at first I was so nervous, I'm going to have an audience while I work out, that was the last thing I wanted. Peter made the entire workout very up beat and motivating which was great, during the push-ups I really had a hard time, the lunges, crunches and running where all pretty difficult too, I will definitely be sore tomorrow. I am very excited about spending time on the Common, and learning all kinds of motivational tricks."
Fridge Makeover - February 12th, 2008
I had my "Fridge Makeover" Monday afternoon, it was so exciting and nerve racking all at the same time, I was having photographers come to my house!! We had a lot of fun, the time flew by so fast. Jenny went over all the foods in my fridge and pantry, since I have been focusing on food by making healthier choices, I had pretty good things in my fridge. However, there was quite a bit of cheese, this girl likes her cheese. Also I had margarita mix which is very high in sugar, which is a no, no. Jenny suggested that when I buy cottage cheese to buy the regular fat free and mix my own fresh fruit, instead of buying it all mixed together. I was treated to groceries from Shaw's which was great and it worked out really well since it was a lot of the things I like to buy. Thank You!
